Thousands of analyses, refined processes, and continuous development — utilizing industrial side streams as raw materials for recycled products requires constant quality work and innovation.

The circular economy can truly scale only when recycled materials win on price, quality, and performance.

Quality is most visible in the final recycled material, when its properties and usability fully meet the customer’s needs.

But long before delivery, a massive amount of work has gone into productizing industrial side streams and ensuring the quality of every batch delivered.

To quickly and extensively replace virgin raw materials with recycled alternatives, process reliability and quality control must be flawless.

Quality is part of everything we do at Soilfood. We get better results when quality development is embedded in the everyday work of every Soilfood employee.

More effort and expertise are needed when the raw materials are recycled. At Soilfood, our quality work covers the entire chain — from raw material suppliers to contractors and other partners. A product’s quality also depends on its performance characteristics and the value it delivers to the customer.

No raw material ends up in a product by accident. Over the years, Soilfood has studied dozens of potential raw materials — and continues to explore new ones and assess their properties on an ongoing basis.

At the Crossroads of Regulation

Soilfood has been part of the food chain since its founding, with regular reporting to the Finnish Food Authority (Ruokavirasto).

Circular economy is at the intersection of multiple regulatory frameworks. We sell products to both industry and agriculture, so our products fall under various legal domains — such as fertilizer legislation, organic production regulations, waste legislation, environmental protection laws, chemical laws, and numerous governmental decrees.

When creating something new, legislation often can’t keep up. That’s why Soilfood’s quality monitoring goes beyond the minimum legal requirements.

In addition, quality control is tailored to each product based on its specific characteristics.
